Kabat’s Dramatic Goal Lifts Blue Hens to 2-1 Win over Seton Hall

NEWARK, Del. – With the seconds ticking away, senior Dani Kabat and the University of Delaware women's soccer team wouldn't be denied in their non-conference finale.
Kabat fired home the game-winning goal with just over 35 seconds left on the clock in double overtime to pick up a thrilling 2-1 victory over Big EAST foe Seton Hall on a beautiful Sunday at Stuart & Suzanne Grant Stadium.
It was the first goal of the season for the senior from Warren, N.J. and third game-winning goal of her career. Sophomore Sara D'Appolonia scored Delaware's other goal on the day, it was the second of her season.
Offensively, the Blue Hens dominated possession and fired off a near school-record 34 shots on the afternoon. It's the third highest total in school history and most since 1993.
With 13 goals on the year, Delaware has now scored more goals this year than they did in all of 2018.
Defensively, it marked the seventh time in nine games this year that the Blue Hens limited their opposition to one goal or less.
What They Said
"We speak a lot about being mature competitors, being able to handle the highs and the lows properly in crucial moments. After last weekend where we could've gotten results and having one last game before conference play, we encouraged our group to channel their emotions appropriately, put their heads down and go to work. They fought and battled, they didn't give up and because of that they got the result they deserved. We have momentum going into CAA play and we can't wait to get back to work." – Associate Head Coach Taylor Wilson
"Knowing it was our last game before conference play, we needed a result today. The team fought relentlessly for 110 minutes, and persevered until the very end. I'm so happy we were able to convert before the final whistle, and I'm unbelievably happy that I was able to put one in the back of the net for my team." – senior Dani Kabat
