Start With Hello
There is no easier way to create an inclusive environment than starting with a simple "hello"! No one likes the feeling of being left out or lonely, and starting with hello is a simple but powerful way to connect with your classmates. Start with hello, have a conversation, and you may make someone's day!
Bucket Fillers
Positive energy is made up of the good thoughts and emotions you think and feel and share with others. It consists of smiles, laughter, gratitude, trust, kindness, and joy. We are excited that you will become a HERO and work to fill your bucket at home, at class, after school and with friends.
- See someone that doesn't have a smile? Share one of your smiles with them.
- Hold the door open for someone walking behind you into school.
- Mind your manners. Use "Please" and "Thank you!" often.
- Lend a hand to someone in need.
- Invite a new student to sit with you at lunch or play with you at recess.
- Do something nice for your brother, sister or friend.
- Say "excuse me" when you bump into someone by accident or interrupt someone talking.
- Write a card or note to your grandparents to let you know you are thinking of them and wish them a good day.
- Share your food, school supplies, or time with someone.

Bucket Dippers
Bullies and people that are mean or unfriendly to others are Bucket Dippers. When someone tries to dip into someone else's bucket to steal their positive energy and acts of kindness they made to others, bucket dippers not only can't take from other buckets, but they lose items from their bucket at the same time.

No Bullies Allowed. If you are being bullied at school or see someone else being bullied, tell someone – a parent, a teacher, a nurse, a principal, or guidance counselor. October is National Bullying Prevention Month where schools and organizations across the country join STOMP Out Bullying™ to work together to stop bullying and cyberbullying. By being tolerant, kind, and respectful, we can stand up for each other and make a difference. To find out more information on how you can be a part of this movement, click here. |

Be Respectful of Our Differences. Initiated by a group of parents and educators to meet the needs of students whose family structures are not well represented or included in school environments, Welcoming Schools is also a response to educators who have asked for tools to address bias-based name-calling and bullying.
