Blue Hens Top Villanova and Chestnut Hill

WILMINGTON, Del. – Delaware continued its winning ways Sunday with wins over Villanova and Chestnut Hill at DuPont Country Club.
The Hens opened the day with a hard-fought 4-3 victory against the Wildcats before topping the Griffins, 6-1. The win was Delaware's first over Villanova since March 16, 2014.
Villanova took an early 2-0 advantage, but Delaware tied things with back-to-back victories from James Wilkinson and Justice Jones in the No. 1 and No. 4 flights, respectively.
The Wildcats then took the fifth flight before Milo Nagle posted a win in the sixth flight.
Guilherme Valdoleiros clinched the match with a come-from-behind victory in No. 3 singles.
The Blue Hens collected the doubles point versus Chestnut Hill and quickly rattled off three straight singles wins from Valdoleiros, Luis Molina and Jones to move to 3-1 on the year.

On Villanova: "We always have good battles with Villanova and tonight was no different. Although we lost the doubles point, we fought hard and carried that momentum into our singles. We fought hard on every court and we were fortunate to get the 'W.'"
On Chestnut Hill: "There is a reason why Chestnut Hill is a top-five regionally ranked program. They played us tough and they did not give us anything. We had to work hard at every position to get this victory tonight. I am so proud of my guys for showing grit and tenacity after a playing a tough Villanova match. We will surely enjoy a couple of days off as we prepare for Connecticut next week."
