Delaware Picked Second in CAA Preseason Poll; Allen and Anderson Named to Second Team

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Delaware men's basketball team was picked second in the CAA Preseason Poll while senior guards Ryan Allen and Kevin Anderson were each named to the CAA Preseason Second Team during the league's media day on Wednesday.
Delaware picked up 270 points and 11 first place votes to finish second in the poll, behind only defending league champion Hofstra with 290 points and 16 first place votes. Drexel was picked third, followed by Towson, Elon, Charleston, Northeastern, UNCW, James Madison and William & Mary.
Allen tied for secon on the team and 16th in the league by averaging 12.2 points per game a year ago, when he reached double figures in 22 games. He was also second on the Blue Hens with 65 three-pointers made, and enters his senior year ranked fourth in UD history with 212 triples made and 19th with 1,211 points.
Anderson was a third team All-CAA selection last year when he led the Blue Hens with 122 assists and 45 steals while ranking fourth with 11.5 points per game. He reached double figures in 20 games, including a career-high 32 points vs. UTSA, and converted the game-winning layup with 0.3 seconds left in the victory at Hofstra.
Delaware was one of two schools, along with Drexel, to place multiple players on the two preseason All-CAA squads. The Blue Hens are expected to open their 2020-21 campaign later this month.
