Blue Hens Add Graduate Transfer to Baseball Roster

Mervis uses his final year of eligibility at Delaware

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware baseball program and 21st-year head coach Jim Sherman have added a graduate transfer for the spring 2021 season in right-handed pitcher David Mervis.

Most recently at nearby Division II West Chester, Mervis was an All-PSAC starting pitcher in 2019, tossing 57.2 innings with a 5-1 record and 4.37 ERA. He punched out 63, including a 10 strikeout performance in 7.0 innings.

In the short 2020 season, he was 1-1 in three starts with an ERA just north of five. His best outing came early, going 4.2 scoreless innings with five strikeouts.

Mervis originally went to VCU, where he redshirted and saw one inning of action in 2017. He then attended the Community College of Baltimore County for a season, before joining the Rams.

He has one remaining year of eligibility.
