Baseball Takes Series from WKU win 6-3 Win in Season Finale

NEWARK, Del. - University of Delaware baseball won the rubber match of its three-game series against WKU, 6-3. Anthony DeCesare hit a home run as Delaware pounded out 10 hits to win its second straight home series to end the season.
HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- DeCesare was 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, two RBIs, and two runs scored.Â
- Sal Mineo went 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored, and an RBI.
- Evan Bouldin had two RBIs and a triple.
- Anthony Charles was 2-of-2 with an RBI.
- LT Cockrill had an RBI single.
- Ryan McLaughlin pitched five strong innings, allowing just three runs.
- Ben Moyzon was dominant in relief to earn the win, pitching three shutout innings with six strikeouts, three hits allowed, and walked just one.
- Andrew Callaway earned the save with a scoreless ninth.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
- WKU scored two runs in the first.Â
- Delaware immediately responded in the bottom half. A leadoff double by Mineo, an RBI triple by Bouldin, and an RBI single by DeCesare tied the game.
- An RBI double by WKU gave the Hilltoppers a 3-2 lead in the second.
- DeCesare hit a two-out home run in the third to even the score at three.Â
- McLaughlin pitched a hitless fourth inning, generating three groundouts, followed by a perfect fifth inning.Â
- Moyzon entered in relief in the sixth and struck out two hitters while leaving two runners aboard.Â
- UD took the lead in the bottom of the sixth on a two-out RBI single by Cockrill.Â
- Moyzon then struck out two more and picked off a runner in the seventh.
- Delaware scored two unearned runs in the seventh to take a 6-3 lead. Cole Carbone and Anthony Charles both reached base on errors before Mineo singled home another run. Bouldin then brought in Charles on a fielder's choice.Â
- Two more strikeouts in the eighth capped off Moyzon's day as he pitched another scoreless inning.Â
- WKU put two runners on in the ninth, but Callaway fanned the final hitter to clinch the win.Â
GAME NOTES
- Delaware ended the season winning two of its final three series, having also swept FIU from May 1-3.Â
- Delaware won six of its final 10 regular-season games.Â
- DeCesare homered for the seventh time this season and extended his hit streak to a career-best 11 games. His seven home runs are the most by a Delaware freshman since Nick Patten hit 12 in 2016.
- Mineo recorded his 17th multi-hit game of the season and fifth three-hit game.Â
- Bouldin had his team-leading 12th multi-RBI game. His triple was his first of the season and first since April 29, 2025 against UMES.Â
- McLaughlin ended the season with six-straight appearances allowing three runs or fewer.Â
- Moyzon's six strikeouts were a career high.Â
- Callaway's save was the third of his career and second this season.Â
- Delaware had at least 10 hits in two of the three games against WKU. UD's pitching staff allowed three runs in all three games against the Hilltoppers.Â
