RICHMOND, Va. – It was a clean sweep of the CAA weekly awards for the University of Delaware men's lacrosse program with senior Matt DeLuca and freshman Mike Robinson earning accolades for their performances this past weekend against Mount St. Mary's.
Both DeLuca and Robinson put together performances that were some of the tops not only in the CAA, but also across the country.
In goal, DeLuca tied a career-high with 19 saves, matching UVA's goalie for the highest single-game total in the season's first two weeks. For the 10th time in the past 16 games, DeLuca and the Blue Hen defense held their opponent to single-digit goals. He stopped 19 of 27 shots on goal (.704) in the victory.
For Robinson, he made quite a first impression in his collegiate debut, setting a program record with seven goals, the most ever by a Blue Hen playing in their first game. It tied the overall freshman single-game scoring record, set by Tye Kurtz with seven goals against Fairfield last spring. He is one of only two players in the country with a seven-goal or more performance so far this year.
The Blue Hens return to Delaware Stadium this Saturday when they host NJIT. Game time is set for 12 p.m. on Hens All-Access and LaxSportsNetwork.
