Hens Continue Hot Start With 5-2 Win Over Lehigh

WILMINGTON, Del. – Delaware continued its blazing start to the season Sunday by topping Lehigh, 5-2, at Delcastle Tennis Center.
With the win, the Blue Hens improve to 7-1 overall, which ties for the best start in program history since going 7-1 to open the 2000-01 campaign.
In doubles play, Guilherme Valdoleiros and Justice Jones paired for a 7-6 (4) win in the second flight before Nathan Benyowitz and Luis Molina picked up the 7-6 (6) victory to clinch the team point in the third flight.
The Mountain Hawks were able to take the 2-1 advantage to open singles action. Delaware countered and rattled off four straight singles wins for the 5-2 triumph.
Liam Hedlund picked up his fourth consecutive win in No. 5 singles before James Wilkinson collected his 19th career win in top-flight singles.
With a victory in No. 3 singles, Valdoleiros captured his sixth straight win of the year before Jones wrapped play in No. 4 singles.
