Selling Sets School Record as Blue Hens Continue CAA Championship

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. – Each with bronze medals from the night before, freshman Mira Selling and junior Audrey Duvall added to their trophy cases Friday night at the Colonial Athletic Association Championship with second place finished in the women's 200 yard freestyle and 400 yard IM, respectively.

The duo grabbed the first silver medals for the Blue Hen women since the 2016 edition of the championship.

 "Another great day for our Blue Hens," said head coach Pablo Marmolejo. "We have outdone what we have accomplished the last few championships with a whole day to go. I'm very proud of this team for their commitment to change and hard work. Lots of great swims in the morning and fantastic swims tonight. This group is focused and hungry for more tomorrow."

Duvall swam to a 4:25.25 for the second-place finish while Selling timed in at 1:47.73. Selling set the school record for the women's 200 yard free, set by Dominique Montoya in 2014.

Delaware had three representatives in the 400 IM with junior Catherine Erwin and freshman Vic Ambrose joining Duvall in the championship. It was Ambrose's second appearance in a final in her first year of collegiate competition.

Joining Selling in the 200 free was classmate Natalie Dobrzykowski. It was also Dobrzykowski's second appearance in a final, placing in fifth.

The Delaware women are sitting in fourth place through three of four days with 294 points.

Freshman Emil Vasko reached the finals in the men's 3-meter dive and placed seventh.Â

Junior Eric Veit ran away with the men's 100 yard breaststroke "B" final, touching the wall in 54.86 for ninth place overall while sophomore Taylor Draganosky edged out a win in the women's "B" final in 1:03.45

The final day of the championship gets underway at 10 a.m. with preliminary heats before the finals of the 1650 free, 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly, women's 1-meter diving, and 400 free relay get started at 6 p.m.
