Blue Hens Continue Hot Start with 4-2 Win at Monmouth

LITTLE SILVER, N.J. – Delaware picked up its 10th consecutive win Saturday by defeating Monmouth, 4-2, at the Little Silver Tennis Club.
The Blue Hens pulled out the team doubles point following three tight matches. The Hawks collected No. 1 doubles before Delaware battled for wins in the second and third flights.
Nathan Benyowitz and Luis Molina captured the point following a hard-fought 7-6 (6) victory in No. 3 doubles to move to 5-2 on the year.
Monmouth took the 2-1 lead with wins in No. 3 and No. 4 singles before the Hens cruised to three straight three-set victories of their own to clinch the match.
In No. 2 singles, Molina posted his team-leading 15th triumph of the season while James Wilkinson came from behind in No. 1 singles to win his fifth straight.
Liam Hedlund sealed the decision for Delaware in No. 5 singles with his seventh consecutive victory of the year.
The Hens last won 10 straight during the 1991-92 season.
