Darling Named First Team All-CAA, Anderson Earns Third Team Honors

RICHMOND, Va. – University of Delaware junior guard Nate Darling was named First Team All-CAA while fellow junior Kevin Anderson was selected to the Third Team as the league announced its all-conference honorees on Friday.
Darling has enjoyed an outstanding season for the Blue Hens as he leads the team, ranks third in the CAA and is 17th in the country with 21.1 points per game. He currently ranks sixth in a UD single season with 634 points, including 16 20-point games and four 30-point efforts. Darling has led UD in scoring 21 times, and his 99 three-pointers made are a school single season record.
Darling, who made the game-winning jumper in the final seconds of the home victory over James Madison, recently connected on 38 consecutive free throws, the second longest streak in program history. He is tied for seventh in the country with 99 three-pointers, ninth with 3.30 threes made per game, and 34th with a 39.8 three-point percentage.
Darling is the fifth Blue Hen to earn first team All-CAA accolades along with Harding Nana (2004-05, 2005-06), Marc Egerson (2008-09), Devon Saddler (2012-13, 2013-14) and Davon Usher (2013-14).
Anderson, who has appeared in all 31 games while making 30 starts, leads the Blue Hens with 117 assists and 41 steals while ranking fourth with 11.6 points per game. He has reached double figures in 20 games, scored a career-high 32 points vs. UTSA, and hit the game-winning layup during UD's dramatic 73-71 victory at Hofstra.
Nathan Knight of William & Mary earned the CAA Player of the Year award, while the Tribe's Dane Fischer was tabbed Coach of the Year. Knight was also selected Defensive Player of the Year, while Hunter McIntosh of Elon was named Rookie of the Year.
Nicholas Timberlake of Towson won the Sixth Man of the Year award, Desure Buie of Hofstra was the Dean Ehlers Leadership Award winner, and Tareq Coburn of Hofstra was named the Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Delaware finished the regular season with a 21-10 record, and the Blue Hens will be the fifth seed in the CAA Tournament with an 11-7 league mark. UD will take on fourth-seeded Charleston in the quarterfinals on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Entertainment & Sports Arena in Washington, D.C.
