Celebration of Champions: 1996 Women’s Swimming & Diving Captures NAC Title

The 1995-96 University of Delaware women's swimming & diving team posted a 10-2 dual meet record, recording wins over Lehigh, Bucknell, Maine, Drexel, Towson, American, Loyola, and Howard.
The Blue Hens then captured the North Atlantic Conference crown, the team's first NAC championship and the program's first conference title since winning the East Coast Conference championship in 1988-89.
Nancy Davis won the 500 free in 5:02.44 and the 1650 free in 17:30.71 at the NAC meet, while Allison Seested captured the 100 back in 1:00.41.
Davis finished second in the 200 free (1:54.92), while Nicky Delbridge was second in the 1650 free (17:40.78) and Beth Ian placed second in the 1-meter diving (350.45). Additionally, the 200 free relay (1:39.88), 800 free relay (7:49.31) and 400 freestyle relay (3:36.10) each finished second in their respective races.
Head coach John Hayman, who was assisted by diving coach John Schuster, was named the NAC Coach of the Year.
Delaware went on to place 10th at the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference regional championship in Sewell, N.J.
Davis, a UD Athletics Hall of Fame inductee, finished fourth in 200 free, fifth in the 500 free and fifth in 1650 free at the ECAC meet.
