Blue Hens Split Series With Elon

Delaware falls to the Phoenix, 83-61
ELON, N.C. – Delaware women's basketball snapped its nine-game winning streak, falling to Elon 83-61 inside the Schar Center Sunday afternoon.
After sweeping the first four Colonial Athletic Association series of the season, the Blue Hens (12-2, 9-1 CAA) split the weekend with the Phoenix (7-5, 3-3 CAA).
Junior guard Jasmine Dickey led all scorers with 22 points, her fourth straight game with 20 or more points, and 11th 20-point game this season. Junior guard Jewel Smalls knocked down three 3-pointers for nine points while also grabbing nine rebounds.
Elon put four players in double figures, led by Brie Perpignan, who went 7-for-11 from the floor and scored 20.
After the Phoenix took a 17-13 lead through one quarter, the Blue Hens stormed back and went ahead 32-30 on a Tyi Skinner three with 1:48 left in the second quarter. The back-and-forth second period featured four lead changes and four ties, but the Phoenix held a 37-34 advantage at the half.
Elon outscored Delaware 22-11 in the third quarter and 46-27 in the second half overall to hand the Blue Hens their first loss since Dec. 20 and first CAA loss since March 1, 2020.
Delaware shot just 30.9% (21-68) from the floor, while Elon knocked down 50.8% of their field goal attempts (31-61).
The Blue Hens return to the Bob Carpenter Center for a two-game series against Northeastern on Feb. 6 and 7; both games tip off at 1 p.m. Delaware swept a two-game series against the Huskies in Boston on Jan. 4 and 5.
