Blue Hens Rally in Second Half For 3-1 Win Over Old Dominion in Home Finale

NEWARK, Del. – The Delaware men's soccer team scored three second half goals as the Blue Hens rallied to defeat Old Dominion, 3-1, in their home finale Wednesday night at Stuart & Suzanne Grant Stadium.
The Monarchs opened the scoring in the 11th minute on a goal by Karan Mandair and carried the 1-0 lead into the break, before Delaware erupted for three goals in the second half.
In the 61st minute Tiago Santos send a chip into the box, where Rex Twum collected the pass and slid home a shot from six yards out for the equalizer.
Josh Hesson took a pass from Ryan Mertz down the left side and fired a shot into the bottom right corner of the net in the 76th minute to put the Blue Hens in front for good. Justin Ruth added an insurance goal in the 88th minute when he collected a pass from Santos, dribbled to the top of the box and ripped a shot into the right side of the cage.
UD keeper Gonzalo Bartoli earned his first win as a Blue Hen by making four saves on the night.
"It's been a rough year, but I'm happy for our seniors that we could end our home season with a victory," said Delaware head coach Ian Hennessy.
