BROOKLINE, Mass. – Northeastern scored a pair of second half goals as the Huskies rallied for a 3-2 win over the Delaware men's soccer team Saturday afternoon at Parsons Field.
In the 17th minute Dan Munch crossed a pass from the left side to Benjamin Klingen, who redirected the ball into the lower right corner of the net to give Northeastern the early lead.
However Delaware answered with two goals in a five-minute span late in the first half to go in front. In the 39th minute Carlos Fernandez fired a shot that was blocked, but the ball caromed to Einar Hardarson who sent a low shot from 10 yards out into the bottom left corner of the cage.
Hardarson and Fernandez then worked a beautiful give-and-go before Hardarson fed Josh Hesson, who scored from close range to make it a 2-1 game in the 44th minute.
Hesson found the back of the net for second consecutive game, while Hardarson recorded his second assist of the year.
The Huskies' Federico Tellez blasted a 20-yard rocket into the top right corner of the goal in the 54th minute to pull Northeastern even, while Ryan Massoud collected a loose ball in front of the cage and scored in the 75th minute for the game-winner.
The Blue Hens had a few chances inside the box in the final 10 minutes, but could not score the equalizer.
Scott Sampson made six saves during the first 81 minutes in the UD goal, before Gonzalo Bartoli took over for the final nine minutes.
The match snapped a seven-game unbeaten streak for the Blue Hens against Northeastern.
