Women's Swimming and Diving Sweeps Rider and La Salle

NEWARK, Del. - The Delaware women's swimming and diving team placed first overall in 13 events in a tri-meet sweeping Rider (247-35) and La Salle (214-85) in the Rawstrom Natatorium Saturday afternoon.
"Great showing by our Blue Hens today," said head coach Pablo Marmolejo. "It was a tough turn around after our long weekend last week, but the team performed at a high level. We are in a great place as we head into our mid-season meet next weekend. By far our best start to a season in the last four seasons, and looking forward to finishing 2021 strong."

The Blue Hens started off the day with Aislinn Mitchell, Andromachi Tasakou, Julia Cichowska, Nicole Chiappa placing first in the 200 Medley Relay in 1:48.44.Â
In the next event, Charlise Oberholzer hit the wall first in the 1000 Free in 10:46.55, 18 seconds faster than Anthi Lyra who came in second (11:04.58).Â
In the 200 Free, Mira Selling (1:52.32) placed first, one of four events where the junior took gold on the day. She also placed first in the 100 Free (51.45), 200 IM (2:05.31) and in the 400 Free Relay with Natalie Dobrzykowski, Chiappa and Lyra (3:32.72).Â
Cristin Earley placed first in the 100 Back (59.50), Tasakou took first in the 100 Breast (1:05.88), Chiappa placed first in the 50 Free (24.18) and Erin Lillis hit the wall first in the 200 Breast (2:26.43).
Cichowska placed first in the 100 Fly in 57.36 and placed second in the 200 Fly, defeating Rider, completing the event in 2:07.67.
In diving, Julia Servas had the top marks in the one-meter (269.95) and three-meter (260.90) competitions.Â
The squad hits the road for the Patriot Invite Nov. 18-20 in Fairfax, Va., for the final meet of 2021.
