Blue Hens Add GW Transfer Jameer Nelson Jr.

NEWARK, Del. – University of Delaware men's basketball head coach Martin Ingelsby has announced that George Washington transfer Jameer Nelson Jr. has joined the Blue Hens program.
Nelson, a 6-1 guard from Haverford, Pa., left the Colonials program following the 2020 fall semester and will enroll at UD for the upcoming spring semester.
Nelson appeared in the first seven games of the season and made five starts, including GW's 68-65 loss at Delaware on Dec. 11. He averaged 8.4 points and 2.0 rebounds, while his 18 steals still lead the team. Nelson scored a season-high 18 points during the season opener at Navy, and added 14 points the following game vs. Hampton.
Nelson made 28 starts while averaging 31.0 minutes per game a year ago as a freshman, averaging 10.4 points and 4.4 rebounds. He led the Colonials with 55 steals, ranked third with 68 assists and knocked down 24 three-pointers during his rookie campaign.
Nelson was a second team All-State selection as a senior at The Haverford School, when he averaged 15 points per game while leading Haverford to a 30-0 record and a Class 5A state title. His is the son of Jameer Nelson, who starred at Saint Joseph's from 2000-04 before enjoying a 14-year NBA career and is now an assistant general manager with the Delaware Blue Coats.
