Blue Hens Seventh Following Opening Day of Kiawah Island Classic

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The University of Delaware women's golf team sits in seventh place on Sunday following the first day of the season-opening Kiawah Island Classic.
The Blue Hens fired a 300 score on the par 72, 5,991-yard Cougar Point course, and are seventh out of 41 teams at the tournament.
Freshman Christina Carroll fired a two under par 70 during the first round of her UD career, carding birdies on 9, 12 and 15 to go along with 14 pars, and is tied for fourth place among individuals.
Lexi Dart is tied for 34th place after shooting a three over par 75 on Sunday, while Oihana Etxezarreta shot a five over par 77 to end the round in a tie for 77th place.
Lene Sperling is tied for 93rd place with a six over par 78, while Anna Kittelson carded a 13 over par 85 and is tied for 189th place.
East Tennessee State leads the team standings with a 286 score, while Faith DeLaGarza sits atop the player leaderboard with a five under par 67.
The three-day tournament will continue on Monday, before the final round takes place on Tuesday.
