Blue Hens Earn 3-1 Comeback Victory at Northeastern

BOSTON – Savannah Seemans and Michaela Putnicki each recorded double-doubles as the Delaware volleyball team came back to post a 3-1 (17-25, 25-23, 25-11, 25-19) victory over Northeastern Saturday afternoon at the Cabot Center.
Seemans blasted 13 kills against just two errors to hit .500 for the match, while notching 11 digs on the day. Putnicki added 10 kills and 11 digs, while Pearce Augier contributed 10 kills and seven blocks.
Lauryn Richardson recorded nine kills during the win, Lily Rogers chipped in with eight kills and 25 assists, and Katie Turner made a team-leading 13 digs. The Blue Hens hit an impressive .344 during the match, while limiting the Huskies to a .189 hitting percentage.
After dropping the opening set, Delaware battled back from a four-point deficit to pull even at 22-22 in the second frame. Rogers then posted a kill before Grace Underwood served an ace, and following a Northeastern point, Augier belted a kill to even the match at a set apiece.
Delaware jumped out to a 5-2 lead in the third set and never looked back, eventually going up 17-9 before winning eight of the last 10 points to take a two sets to one lead.
The Blue Hens trailed 11-10 in the fourth stanza, but then reeled off five straight points to take control. The Huskies closed within 20-18 before Delaware won five of the six final points, including a combined block by Augier and Rogers that sealed the win.
