Delaware Ties For 19th Place at Season-Opening Kiawah Island Classic

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The University of Delaware women's golf team finished in a tie for 19th place as the Blue Hens opened their 2021 spring schedule this week at the Kiawah Island Classic.
Delaware, which fired scores of 300 and 306 during the first two days, carded a 319 on Tuesday to tie for 19th out of 41 teams with a 925 total. Dallas Baptist easily captured the team crown with an 865 score, while host College of Charleston finished second at 892.
Blue Hen freshman Oihana Etxezarreta fired a four over par 76 during her final round on the par 72, 5,991-yard Cougar Point course, tying for 51st place among individuals with a 13 over par 77-76-76-229. Christina Carroll also tied for 51st place by finishing with a 13 over par 70-75-84-229.
Lexi Dart tied Etxezarreta for the low round of the day by a Blue Hen with a 76, as she tied for 68th place with a 15 over par 75-80-76-231.
Anna Kittelson tied for 161st place at the tournament with a 27 over par 85-75-83-243, while Lene Sperling tied for 164th place with a 28 over par 78-81-85-244.
Faith DeLaGarza of Dallas Baptist was the tournament medalist as she finished at three under par to post a two-shot victory.
Delaware returns to action on March 8-9 at the UNF Collegiate in Jacksonville, Fla.
