Blue Hens' Undefeated Season Continues With Scoreless Draw at Hofstra

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The University of Delaware men's soccer team remained unbeaten during the 2021 spring season as the Blue Hens battled Hofstra to a 0-0 double overtime draw Friday night.

Hofstra held a slim 11-10 advantage in shots, while both teams attempted six shots on goal. Renan Thomazo made six saves for the Blue Hens (2-0-2), including an impressive stop with his left foot in the first overtime period. Hofstra keeper Wessel Speel also posted six saves on the night.

Forster Ajago took three shots for Delaware, while Josh Hesson and Pedro Barbolla Sanchez added two apiece. Matthew Vowinkel attempted three shots for the Pride, which held a 16-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Following the draw, the teams remained tied atop the CAA's North Division with identical 1-0-2 league records.
