Rogers moves to the outside and hammers home six kills
NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware volleyball team opened CAA North play Friday night with a straight-set decision at the hands of Towson (19-25, 14-25, 19-25) at the Bob Carpenter Center.
Â
After leading the team in assists last time out, freshman Lily Rogers made the move to the outside and hit .455 with six kills, two digs and two assists while classmate Savannah Seemans led the way with eight putaways and seven digs.
Â
The Blue Hens got out to a quick start, jumping out to a 13-9 lead in the first after freshman Pearce Augier and Rogers teamed up for the denial and forced a Towson timeout. But the Tigers regrouped and came storming back to take the first set, hitting .333 in the opener.
Â
It was a similar story in the second, with Delaware opening the frame on a 4-0 outburst, before Towson took over the service line and ran off seven-straight points.
Â
Redshirt junior Katie Turner reached double-digit digs with 10, sophomore Ezgi Basaranlar had 22 assists to go along with three kills, and freshman Pearce Augier had six kills and two blocks.
