Blue Hens in Third After Day Two of CAA Championships

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. – The University of Delaware men's swimming team is sitting in third place after the second day of the CAA Men's Swimming Championships with a score of 340 through Friday's races.

Junior Bryce Ciecko earned a spot on the podium in the 200-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 1:39.21, just in front of senior Kevin Bargate who finished fourth in 1:39.30.

Senior Eric Veit finished fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 54.84 along with freshman Zach Sherk, who got to the wall in 56.04. Junior Ethan Holcroft and freshman Jack Gibson were "B" finalists in the event.

Freshman Simeon Sabev swam to a fourth-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 48.25 while sophomore Ryan Polino was a "B" finalist in the event along with classmate Tommy Lutter, junior Justin Sabo and sophomore TJ Yaglenski.

The trio of freshman Zach Rowe, Yaglenski and sophomore Ryan Polino were finalists in the 100-yard backstroke. Freshman Jack Zapp swam to a seventh-place finish in the 400-yard IM in 4:02.56.

The Blue Hens close out the CAA Championships Sunday with preliminaries getting started at 11:10 a.m.
