Blue Hens Close Out CAA Championships

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. – The University of Delaware men's swimming team finished up the CAA Championships with a fifth place finish Saturday night.

The Blue Hens were led by junior Bryce Ciecko who swam to a silver in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 15:52.37 with sophomore Jacob Bishop grabbing bronze getting to the wall in 15:57.12.

Freshman Zach Rowe swam to a silver medal in the 200-yard backstroke, touching the wall in 1:47.95 and senior Eric Veit finished the 200-yard breaststroke in fifth place in 1:59.49, good enough for a school record, while freshman Jack Hattery finished in seventh.

In the 200-yard butterfly, freshman Simeon Sabev finished in 1:50.40, good for seventh-place and sophomore Tommy Lutter was a "B" finalist along with classmate TJ Yaglenski and junior Justin Sabo.

Junior Evan Custance was a "B" finalist in the 1650-yard freestyle and senior Kevin Bargate advance to the "B" final of the 100-yard freestyle.

Junior Jeb Darhower swam the "B" final of the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:02.95, along with freshman Evan Frick and freshman Jack Zapp.
