NEWARK, Del. – Delaware Women's Basketball Head Coach Natasha Adair announced the addition of Maddie Sims and Makayla Pippin to the Blue Hens roster for the 2021-22 season.
Sims joins the Blue Hens as a grad transfer. She arrives at UD after playing last season at UMass. A native of Mount Laurel, N.J., Sims started 15 games averaging 28.2 a contest. She averaged 7.5 points per game and 4.5 rebounds per game. Sims led the Minutewomen in blocked shots with 20. The forward also played three seasons at Siena.
"Maddie comes to us with tons of experience. She's a veteran leader, competitor, winner and a hard worker," added Adair. "Her presence inside will add depth as well as size. Maddie has a high basketball IQ and fits well into our system. Her versatility to play inside and out will help continue our dominance at the post position."
A native of Indianapolis, Ind., Pippin appeared in six games last season for Kansas State. Prior to Kansas State, Pippin played two seasons at Central Arizona College. Rated as the 15th junior college player in the nation by Girls Basketball Report during the 2019-20 season, Pippin finished the year as a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Women's Basketball Third-Team All-American. In 58 games with 54 starts Pippin averaged 16.8 points per game, 8.9 rebounds per game, 2.9 assists per game, and 1.7 steals per game (100 steals).
"Makayla adds size, scoring and toughness to our team," Adair said. "She a big guard/forward that can flat out score the ball at all three levels. Makayla is a competitor and is driven by her will to win. She is also a relentless rebounder who will transition right into the nation's number one offensive rebounding team."
