Natasha Adair. While most people in the Colonial Athletic Association know her name because of the success of the Delaware Women's Basketball team, it is Adair's passion, personality, determination, and smile that shines bright when she's walking down the hallways of the Bob Carpenter Center or looking ready for the big screen on Zoom.
Adair is a mother, head coach, mentor, and game-changer to men and women, young and old. Since she arrived in Newark, Adair has led the charge for equality in the athletics department and nationally.Â
Serving as the Delaware representative on the CAA United for Change committee and being a head coach representative at the Student-Athletes Against Social Injustice Task Force educational session, Adair has inspired Blue Hens everywhere to stand up for what is right and take action.
Adair appeared on the UD Winning Women in Athletics: Trailblazers and Changemakers Webinar Series this spring as a guest. She provided food for thought and shared her experiences in the athletics field.
A founding member of the Black Coaches United, Adair's leadership and passion inspired her women's basketball players to write letters to elected officials voicing their concerns regarding state legislation. It caught the attention of Governor John Carney and Attorney General Kathy Jennings leading to a meeting with Blue Hen student-athletes.
Adair and her team decided to commit to the slogan "Actions Over Words" and have stayed committed to making a change. A part of the change was playing a major role in the Delaware Athletics Department deciding to play "Lift Every Voice and Sing" before home games.Â
For her commitment to inspiring people to be and do better, Adair was featured on FloSports for Black History Month.Â
A U18 and U19 USA Women's National Team assistant coach, Adair continues to inspire today's youth to achieve their dreams and use their voice.Â
While Adair advocates for social justice, she's also a big advocate and supporter for Blue Hen Athletics all-around. Adair is amazing at spreading the UD love and is proud of all 21 of Delaware's varsity sports teams, as she's usually the first one to like, reply, comment, and retweet when something great happens with other teams. It's hard to find someone who is "aware" as much as she is and the women's basketball program is happy to have her as a Blue Hen.
