» Delaware opens the season with a CAA conference game for the second straight season. It's also the second consecutive season that the Blue Hens will face UMaine in their first game. Delaware is on a four-game CAA win streak.

» Thursday marks only the second time the two head coaches have faced each other at their current institutions. Delaware opened the 2021 spring season against UMaine. The Blue Hens won, 37-0. Dejoun Lee took the opening kickoff back for an 87-yard touchdown. UD scored seven points in the first quarter and 10 points in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th quarters. 2017 was the last time the two teams played in Maine. UD won the contest, 31-17. Dating back to 2017, Delaware has scored 51 straight points against the Bears.

» The Blue Hens will have six captains for the 2021 season. Returning as captains from last season are graduate students Frank Burton III and Dejoun Lee, along with redshirt senior Nolan Henderson and senior Kedrick Whitehead. Added to the captains mix for this season is the addition of graduate student David Kroll, fifth-year players Gene Coleman II and Nijuel Hill.
