WILMINGTON, N.C. – Opening a road slate of playing three games in five days, the University of Delaware women's basketball team captured a 78-69 CAA victory over UNCW (3-12, 0-5 CAA) Wednesday evening inside Trask Coliseum. With the win, the Blue Hens are 11-5 on the season and 5-1 in league play.
"Great team win! It's never easy to come on the road; Coach Barefoot does a phenomenal job with her team," said head coach Natasha Adair. "We challenged our team – coming out of our last game, I wanted us to play harder, I wanted us to play Delaware basketball with energy and effort; I think from start to finish we saw that today. I love the fact that we are sharing the ball and everyone got involved. When you do that, you see the smiles and you see them having fun. It is going to start with us on the defensive end and then we work our way out. Another milestone again tonight for Jasmine Dickey, 1,562 (career points) and counting, Ty Battle her 11th double-double but they don't do this without their teammates. It was great for us to be able to play everybody and sometimes players don't want those minutes. But they don't realize how important and valuable they are because it is experience; it's real minutes. I love the way the starters/veterans cheered for them but that's this team we do it together and we do it as a family. We got this one and we got two more to go on the road but it always starts when you get that victory. I am very proud of our group."
