Nelson Jr., Davis Earn Preseason All-CAA Honors; MBB Picked Third

RICHMOND, Va. – Delaware's Jameer Nelson Jr. and Jyáre Davis were selected All-CAA Preseason First Team and Second Team, respectively, the league announced Wednesday. The defending CAA Champion Blue Hens were picked third in the CAA Men's Basketball Preseason Poll, one point behind Hofstra.
The CAA Preseason awards and poll are voted on by the league's 13 head coaches.
Nelson Jr. finished the 2021-22 campaign as a Second Team All-CAA selection after leading the team and ranking seventh in the league with 13.6 points per game. The redshirt junior nailed 56 triples and handed out 78 assists while ranking fourth in the CAA with 1.6 steals per game.
Davis, the reigning CAA Rookie of the Year, landed on the CAA All-Rookie Team last season, was the CAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player and was a finalist for the Kyle Macy Award. Davis ended the year with 9.7 points and 4.2 rebounds per outing and shot 60.1% from the field. Reaching double figures in his last 14 games, Davis returns to the Hens for his second season.
