Women’s Soccer Preview: Stony Brook and Hofstra

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware women's soccer team continues Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) play on Thursday, Oct. 6 versus Stony Brook at 6 p.m. The Blue Hens play Hofstra on Sunday, Oct. 9 at 1 p.m. at Stuart and Suzanne Grant Stadium.

What You Need to Know:
- The Blue Hens are 2-7-4 overall and 1-2-1 in CAA competition.
- Katie Hackley was named the CAA Offensive Player of the Week (Oct.3) after recording two goals and one assist last week as the Blue Hens defeated Elon (3-0) and tied Towson (1-1).
- The all-time series versus Stony Brook is tied at 4-4. The two teams last played in 2019 with Stony Brook winning, 2-1. The Seawolves have won the last two outings. The last time UD beat Hofstra was Sept. 25, 2016 with the Blue Hens winning, 2-1.
- Hofstra leads the all-time series versus Delaware, 7-22-1. The Blue Hens have lost the last five outings versus the Pride dating back to 2017.
- After leading UD in goals scored in 2021, Sara D'Appolonia has six goals and one assist on her resume in 2022. She's tied for sixth in the CAA in goals scored. Izzy Lane leads the team with four assists, while Mia Reed has 45 saves in goal to rank tied for fourth in the league. Odaliana Gomez has started the last two games at the goalkeeper spot for UD and has tallied nine saves with a 1-0-1 record.
- Stony Brook (4-7-2, 1-2-1 CAA) is tied with Delaware and Hofstra with four league points in the standings. Reilly Rich and the Seawolves last played in Newark in 2019. Rich is tied for third in the CAA in goals scored with seven.
- Hofstra (6-5-2, 1-2-1 CAA) comes to Newark for the first time since spring of 2021. Ellen Halseth is tied for sixth in the CAA in goals scored with six.
