Men’s Basketball Erases 15-Point Deficit, but Falls at Air Force

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Delaware men's basketball (1-1) erased a 15-point deficit in the second half but couldn't take the lead against Air Force (1-1), falling 75-71 on Friday. A trio of Blue Hens tallied double-figure scoring totals in the road opener.
After scoring the first bucket of the game, the Blue Hens were outpaced 6-1 into the media break at 15:32 for a 6-4 deficit. The Falcons controlled the rest of the first half, holding Delaware to one of its final 12 field goals, including none over the final 7:35. Offensively, the Falcons shot 50.0% from deep with seven triples in the period.
UD kept the game within 10 at the half thanks to a 14-of-16 performance from the line.
Air Force pulled ahead by as many as 15 points with 9:09 left before the Blue Hens began to build a comeback. A 21-9 run over a 5:35 span knotted the game at 69 apiece. During the run, Delaware went 9-of-13 from the floor, including 3-of-6 from downtown.
Air Force hit a triple followed by a free throw to make it a four-point game, ultimately taking the win.
Jameer Nelson Jr. finished with a team-high 18 points. He packed his stat line adding seven rebounds, two assists, two steals, and two blocks.
Jyáre Davis (15) and Ebby Asamoah (13) also tallied double-digit point totals. Davis corralled four rebounds and dished out a game-best four assists.
Christian Ray posted a game-high 10 rebounds for his second-straight game in double digits. The Gap, Pa. native also contributed nine points.
Delaware returns to action in a week with a battle at nationally-ranked Duke on Friday, November 18.
