Men’s Basketball Set to Battle No. 7 Duke

DURHAM, N.C. – Delaware men's basketball (1-1) returns to action on Friday with a trip to Cameron Indoor Stadium to take on No. 7 Duke (2-1) at 7 p.m.

SCOUTING DELAWARE:
- The Blue Hens are averaging 74.5 points per game through two games, with a trio of double-digit scorers.
- Jameer Nelson Jr. led the way in scoring against Air Force, recording 18 points, including shooting 8-for-10 from the charity stripe. The Haverford, Pa. native is averaging 18.0 points per game this season to lead the Blue Hens and adds 5.0 rebounds per game.
- Jyáre Davis dropped 15 last game and is at 17.5 points per outing. He's second on the squad and also corrals 4.5 boards per contest.
- Ebby Asamoah is the third and final double-digit scorer to this point. The captain is dropping 10.5 ppg.
- La Salle transfer Christian Ray has put up back-to-back double-digit rebounding performances for a team-best 12.0 rpg. He's only the fourth Delaware player in the last 18 seasons to begin a year with such outings. He joins Eric Carter ('17-18), Marc Egerson ('08-09) and Harding Nana ('05-06).
- Delaware has never beaten a ranked opponent in program history. Against ranked opponents, the Blue Hens are 0-19 vs. the top 10 and 0-35 vs. the top 25 overall. However, they are 5-14 all-time against current members of the ACC.
- Duke enters the contest against the Blue Hens after a 69-64 loss to no. 6 Kansas at the State Farm Champions Classic.
- Duke is currently 2-0 at home this season, outscoring its opponents by an average of 36.5 points in the confines of Cameron Indoor Stadium.
- Freshman Kyle Filipowski recorded 17 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Blue Devils in the loss in both categories, becoming the first Duke freshman to open his career with three straight double-doubles.
- Jeremy Roach, named to the All-ACC Preseason First Team, was the only other Blue Devil to reach double digits against the Jayhawks, scoring 16 while grabbing four rebounds.
- Duke holds the all-time record at 2-0 in the series.
- The two teams last met in 2012-13 when second-ranked Duke handled the Blue Hens 88-50 in Durham. Five Blue Devils scored double digits, while Devon Saddler was the only player to score more than 7 points for Delaware, scoring 23 on 8-for-22 shooting.
- The first matchup was much closer with No. 20 Duke scraping out a 79-73 victory in December of 1995.
