Women's Basketball Game Preview: VCU

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware women's basketball is set to welcome former conference foe VCU Tuesday, Nov. 15 for a non-conference showdown at 7 p.m. inside Bob Carpenter Center.

Up Next: Delaware will hit the road Friday, Nov. 18 to Burlington, Vt. to face Vermont at 6 p.m. inside Patrick Gymnasium.
What You Need to Know:
- This will be the 21st time Delaware and VCU will be meeting in program history, with the Blue Hens holding the 13-7 all-time record and an 8-2 mark inside Bob Carpenter Center.
- The last time the Blue Hens and the Rams met was when they were CAA foes during the 2011-12 season. Delaware captured the 68-49 home win on Feb. 5, 2012. The Blue & Gold are currently on a two-game winning streak against the Rams.
- The last time Delaware hit the hardwood was last Thursday, Nov. 10 for its home opener. The Blue Hens suffered a 64-56 setback to Columbia.
- Against the Lions, Tara Cousins paced the Blue Hens with 12 points, six rebounds and four steals while Jewel Smalls followed with 11 points and five rebounds. Smalls is now nine points away from joining the 1,000-point club (991 career points). Makayla Pippin pulled down nine rebounds and Klarke Sconiers sent away two shots.
- VCU is entering Tuesday's matchup with a 1-1 record after they welcomed William & Mary on Friday, Nov. 11. The Rams fell to the Tribe 66-61 inside Siegel Center. VCU was led by Sara Te-Biasu, who scored a team-high 19 points and added a career-high five steals and five assists to her statline.
- Among the national leaders, Delaware as a team ranks 12th in blocks per game (7.5) while Smalls ranks ninth in three pointers (9), 13th in three pointers per game (4.50) and 23rd in three point attempts (17). Sconiers ranks 13th in blocks (6) and 17th in blocks per game (3.00).
