Women's Swimming And Diving Climbs To Third Place During Day Two Of Bison Invitational

LEWISBURG, Penn. - The University of Delaware's women's swimming and diving team climbed from sixth place to third place after a strong performance during day two of the Bison Invitational. The Blue hens currently have 709.50 points, trailing only host Bucknell (896) and Fordham (726.50). Connecticut (644.50), Davidson (602.50), La Salle (597), Bloomsburg (196), and Rider all trail Delaware.Â
Erin Shema continued her big weekend by setting a program record in the 100 back with a time of 54.42 and finishing in first place.
Also in the 100 back, Cristin Earley finished in eighth place with a time of (58.00).Â
Delaware had two top-six finishers in the 100 fly, with Aislinn Mitchell placing third (54.83) and Alexandra Misikova finishing sixth (56.52).Â
Mania Tasakou (1:02.90) and Jenna Leonard (1:03.76) highlighted Delaware in the 100 breast with fourth and sixth place finishes. Erin Lillis followed by finishing in 11th (1:04.97), while Marietta Gately finished in 20th (1:06.04).Â
Mira Selling finished in first place in the 200 free with a time of 1:47.93, while Anthi Lyra took second place (1:51.16) and Natalie Dobrzykowski took seventh (1:52.68). Nicole Chiappa (1:53.78, 18th), Bella Granetzke (1:54.24, 20th), and Peyton Rautzhan (1:55.04, 21st), and Misikova (1:59.70, 24th) all rounded out the finals for the Blue Hens.
Earley led Delaware in the 400 IM with a sixth place (4:27.49) finish. Lillis came in 13th (4:29.33), Charlise Oberholzer placed 16th (4:34.05), and Gately finished in 24th (4:37.40).Â
The 200 medley relay team of Shema, Tasakou, Mitchell, and Selling took second place with a time of 1:42.37. The 800 free relay team of Lyra, Dobrzykowski, Chiappa, and Selling finished in first place with a time of 7:26.82.Â
The final day of the meet begins tomorrow, with Delaware looking to continue to climb up the scoreboard.Â
