Men's Swimming And Diving Finishes In Second Place At Bucknell Invite

LEWISBURG, Penn. -Â The Delaware men's swimming and diving team finished in second place with 1,332 points at the Bucknell Invitational after their third and final day of competition. Delaware finished just behind host Bucknell, who finished with 1,346.50 points. Davidson (888.50), Fordham (726), NJITÂ (722.50), Rider (658.50), La Salle (607), and Bloomsburg (425).Â
Toni Sabev set a new program record in the 200 breast with a time of 1:57.67, his third program record of the weekend after he also set the 100 breast mark on Saturday. Gavin Currie set a new program record in the 200 back with a time of 1:44.45 as well, his second program record performance. Both swimmers were also members of the 400 medley relay record team on Friday.
Miguel Vasquez led Delaware in the 100 free with a sixth place finish (45.16). Joining Vasquez in the finals was Ryan Polino in 13th place (46.05), Luke Rautzhan in 14th place (46.23), and Matvei Namakonov in 15th place (46.48).Â
Along with Toni Sabev in the 200 breast, Evan Frick finished in third place (2:02.70), while Jack Gibson placed sixth (2:04.50). Jack Zapp came in 12th place with a time of 2:06.92.Â
Jack Hattery had the second fastest time in program history in the 200 fly at 1:48.43 and finished in ninth place, while Simeon Sabev finished right behind in 10th place (1:50.32). T.J. Yaglenski came in 16th place (1:55.85).Â
Also in the 200 back, Jacob Replogle finished in seventh place (1:50.90).Â
In the 1650 free, Dylan Smolders placed seventh with a time of 16:04.45, while Kevin Lewke was ninth with a time of 16:10.69.Â
The 400 free relay team of Polino, Toni Sabev, Rautzhan, and Vasquez came in second place with a time of 3:00.09.Â
