NEWARK, Del. – Delaware men's and women's basketball are excited to host Holiday with the Hens at five games this December. At each game, the Blue Hens will encourage fans to give back to the community with a variety of philanthropic drives.
December's home opener features men's basketball hosting Cornell. The first 500 fans in attendance will receive a special edition Delaware Blue Hens cookie cutter. The Hens are also holding a food drive to benefit the Food Bank of Delaware – any canned and non-perishable items will be accepted.
Two days later when men's hoops welcome Davidson to the BCC, fans are asked to participate in a coat drive with all collections going to the Friendship House Clothing Bank. In return, fans will receive a buy-one-get-one-free coupon for tickets to the Hofstra game on December 29.
Sunday's game against Duquesne will be the only Holidays with the Hens event for the women based on their schedule. UD will be collecting new and gently used stuffed animals for the Kind to Kids Foundation. Fans will get to participate in the Teddy Bear Toss at halftime for a chance to win a prize. Fans will get a 15% coupon for shopbluehens.com for participating in the initiative.
Wednesday, December 7 will feature men's basketball against Delaware State on Delaware Day. UD will be collecting new and gently used toys for the Kind to Kids Foundation. After donating, fans will get a 15% coupon for shopbluehens.com.
Rounding out the Holiday with the Hens campaign will be a toy drive on December 11 when the men's program takes on Siena. The Hens are holding a food drive to benefit the Food Bank of Delaware – any canned and non-perishable items will be accepted.
