NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware women's basketball team is back in the First State and will play host to in-state foe Delaware State Wednesday, Nov. 30 to close out their stellar play this month. The Blue Hens and the Hornets will battle for the Route 1 Rivalry trophy, sponsored by DE529, and bragging rights starting at 7 p.m. inside Bob Carpenter Center.

What You Need to Know:

This will be the 14th meeting between Delaware and Delaware State in program history, with the Blue Hens holding the 12-1 all-time record and a 6-1 mark inside Bob Carpenter Center.
The last time the Blue Hens and the Hornets met was last season on Nov. 19, 2021. Delaware hoisted up the trophy and had bragging rights after capturing the dominating 79-48 road win inside Memorial Hall.
The last time Delaware hit the hardwood was last Saturday afternoon (Nov. 26) when they closed out the 2022 Daytona Beach Invitational against Illinois. The Blue Hens captured a B1G 83-80 victory over the Fighting Illini to snap their six-game winning streak.
The statline against Illinois: Makayla Pippin and Klarke Sconiers combined to score 36 of the Blue Hens' 83 total points. Pippin pulled down a career-best 18 rebounds, which is the most by a CAA player this season and the most by a UD player since Jasmine Dickey had 18 in the 2022 CAA conference championship game on Mar. 13. Kharis Idom, Tara Cousins (four assists, two steals) and Nakiyah Mays-Prince poured in 12, 11 and 11 points, respectively. The Blue Hens had five players score at least 10 points for the first time since Jan. 4, 2021, an 86-59 road victory over Northeastern.
The last time Delaware State saw action was Saturday afternoon (Nov. 26) for a road showdown at Loyola. The Hornets dropped a 60-51 decision to the Greyhounds and were paced by a quartet of double-digit scorers with Alexis Moragne leading the way with 13 points.
Delaware was one of three CAA schools that were recognized on Nov. 22 on the College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 poll. The Blue Hens received 30 votes.
