Volleyball Match Preview: William & Mary

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – As the postseason nears, the University of Delaware volleyball team will hit the road to close out their conference and road slate in Williamsburg, Va. The Blue Hens will face William & Mary in a CAA weekend series Saturday, Nov. 5 and Sunday, Nov. 6 inside Kaplan Arena. Both matches are slated for a 2 p.m. start.

What You Need to Know:
- This is the 46th meeting between Delaware and William & Mary, with the Blue Hens holding the 29-16 all-time record and a 12-8 road mark in Williamsburg.
- Looking to bounce back from the season series split last weekend, Delaware will look to use the memory of sweeping William & Mary a season ago with back-to-back straight-sets victories (Nov. 13-14).
- The last time Delaware met William & Mary inside Kaplan Arena was during the 2019 season where the Blue Hens dropped a 3-0 decision on Oct. 14. The last time the Blue Hens were victorious on the Tribe's home court was during the 2017 campaign with a five-set win on Sept. 21.
- The last time the Blue Hens was out was against UNCW last weekend. Delaware claimed the first match of the series with a four-set victory and then fell in a five-set heartbreak to the Seahawks.
- William & Mary traveled to Towson, Md. last weekend where they face the three-time defending champions, Towson. The Tribe fell in back-to-back four sets to the Tigers.
- The Blue Hens have clinched the upcoming CAA Volleyball Championship for the third time in four seasons and are currently sitting in sixth place in league standings.
- The statline vs. UNCW (Sunday): Lani Mason led the way with 27 kills and 13 digs to post her 12th double-double on the season while Lauryn Richardson followed with nine kills. Ezgi Basaranlar directed the Blue Hen offense with 48 assists and scooped up 10 digs to register her second double-double of the season. Eileen Gex anchored the Blue Hen defense by surpassing her previous career-high mark she just set on Saturday (Oct. 29) with 29 digs. Savannah Seemans and Amelia Painter supported Gex in the back row with 17 and 10 digs, respectively. Mason stood tall with Pearce Augier and sent away three attempts each.
- Among the national leaders, Mason ranks seventh in kills per set (5.04), points per sent (5.51) and total kills (418), ninth in points (457) and 17th in attacks per set (11.75). Lily Rogers ranks 14th in triple doubles (1).
