NEWARK, Del. – It has been 256 days since the University of Delaware women's basketball team last played in Newark. The Blue Hens are set to play host to Columbia on Thursday, Nov. 10 for its home opener inside Bob Carpenter Center. Opening tip is slated for 7 p.m.

What You Need to Know:
- This will be the fourth time Delaware and Columbia will be meeting in program history, with the Lions holding the 2-1 all-time record. The Blue Hens will look to avenge last year's 73-67 setback to the Lions in New York. UD's lone victory against Columbia was in Newark during the 2008-09 season with a 62-48 victory on Nov. 16.
- The Blue Hens opened the 2022-23 campaign Monday evening with an 82-62 road victory over Longwood. The victory gave first-year head coach Sarah Jenkins her first-career win at the helm.
- The Lions opened its season on Monday at Memphis and prevailed with a 77-69 victory inside Elma Roane Fieldhouse.
- After pouring in 23 points (8-11 FG, 6-9 3FG) on Monday, Jewel Smalls is 20 points away from joining the 1,000-point club. Klarke Sconiers followed with 16 points (6-8 FG, 4-5 FT) in her debut in the Blue & Gold to go with four blocks. Makayla Pippin added 14 points (5-10 FG, 4-5 FT), eight rebounds, and three blocks while the rookie Nakiyah Mays-Prince was the spark plug off the bench with 13 points (6-11 FG), five assists, and five steals. Michelle Ojo pulled down nine rebounds and nabbed three steals.
- The Lions (1-0) had three in double figures against Memphis, led by junior guard Abbey Hsu's game-high 24 points. The Becky Hammon Preseason Watch List nominee was 7-of-15 from the floor and 4-of-9 from the perimeter, also filling up the stat sheet with five rebounds, two blocks, an assist, and a steal. Hannah Pratt added 15 points, six boards, and six assists, while Jaida Patrick netted 14 with four rebounds two assists, and a pair of blocks.
- Over the last 10 seasons, the Blue Hens hold a 7-3 record in their home openers.
- Delaware was one of five CAA schools that were recognized on Nov. 2 on the College Insider Preseason Mid-Major Top 25 poll. The Blue Hens received 39 votes.
