Men’s Basketball Wraps Up Four-Game Homestand Against Siena

NEWARK, Del. – Delaware men's basketball (5-4) concludes its four-game homestand with a matinee matchup against Siena (5-4) on Sunday at 2 p.m.

- Delaware won the Route 1 Rivalry on Wednesday, knocking off Delaware State 77-69 to improve to 5-4.
- Delaware is now 5-0 this season when holding opponents under 70 points and 60-18 with that parameter during the Martin Ingelsby era.
- Jameer Nelson Jr. was the MVP of the Route 1 Rivalry, scoring 27 points after a 6-of-9 explosion in the second half against the Hornets. He leads the Blue Hens in scoring, averaging 18.8 ppg and recently surpassed career 1,000 points..
- LJ Owens has scored 10 points or more in six consecutive games after tying a career-high with 21 against DSU, his highest single-game mark as a Blue Hen, shooting a scorching 66.6 percent from the field and 71.4 percent from three-point range. Owens is averaging 11.6 ppg this year.
- Christian Ray contributed his third double-double this season with 11 points and 10 rebounds. He is averaging 11.3 rpg this season, which is sixth in the nation.
- Jyáre Davis rounded out a quartet of double figure scorers in last game with 11 points. He's second on the team, averaging 16.2 points per contest and has tallied 10+ in all but one game this season.
- Siena is also 5-4 after dropping a contest against Georgetown in the nation's capital on Wednesday 75-68.
- 2x MAAC Player of the Week, Javian McCollum, is averaging 17.6 points and 4.6 assists per game for Siena, surpassing 20 points in five of the nine games.
- Pepperdine transfer Jackson Stormo is second in both points (12.3) and rebounds (6.1), scoring 21 and grabbing 7 boards against Georgetown.
- The Blue Hens are the only CAA opponent the Saints will match up with this season.
- This contest will be the eighth meeting between the Blue Hens and Saints and just the second during the Ingelsby era. The Blue Hens have a 4-3 record against Siena.
- These two teams met last season in Albany, where Delaware beat Siena 83-63 on 11/13/2021. Nelson Jr. led the way with 19 points in the win.
