Sabev, Vasquez To Compete At SC World Championships

NEWARK, Del. - Toni Sabev and Miguel Vasquez of the Delaware men's swimming and diving program will compete in the SC World Championships in Melbourne, Australia. Sabev will be representing Bulgaria, while Vasquez will represent Guatemala. The event will be held at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre.

Sabev will compete in the 100m breaststroke on Tuesday at 8:50 p.m. EST and 50m breaststroke on Friday at 8:51 p.m. EST. Sabev has already set Delaware program records this season in the 100 breast (52.17) and 200 breast (1:57.67). He's also finished in first place in 100 breast six times, first place in the 200 breast two times, and a first-place in the 200 IM once.

Vasquez will compete in the 100m freestyle on Tuesday at 8:03 p.m. EST and 50m backstroke on Wednesday at 7:19 p.m. EST. Vasquez, a former All-Conference selection in the 200 Medley Relay and 400 Free Relay, has finished in the top three in the 100 free in five of his six meets this season.
