Men's Swimming And Diving Finishes Off 2022 With Victory Over West Chester

WEST CHESTER, Penn. – The University of Delaware swimming and diving team defeated West Chester, 137-100, on Friday, Dec. 2 to close out 2022. This was the Blue Hens' sixth consecutive victory.Â
In the 50 free, Matvei Namakonov finished in third place (21.29) while Luke Rautzhan placed fourth (21.65). Addison Collins finished in sixth place (22.24). In the 100 free, Miguel Vasquez (46.65), Ryan Polino( 46.94), and Rautzhan finished in third-fourth-and fifth place. The Blue Hens claimed the top three spots in the 200 free. Jacob Replogle (1:44.06) finished first, Vasquez (1:44.19) finished second, and Gavin Currie (1:44.59) finished third. Andrew Taylor won the 500 free (4:41.82) and 1000 free (9:46.44). Dylan Smolders (4:42.73) and Replogle (4:42.81) finished second and third in the 500 free, while while Kevin Lewke placed fifth in the 1000 free with a time of 10:14.12.Â

In the 200 IM, Toni Sabev finished in first place (1:54.25), while Dylan Smolders placed fourth (1:57.25) and Jack Hattery finished in fifth place (1:57.82).Â

Simeon Sabev led the way in the 100 fly (49.97). Hattery finished in fifth place (52.74), while Tim Grossi finished in sixth place (53.36).Â

In the 100 back Currie finished in third place (51.47), while T.J. Yaglenski placed fourth (52.88) and Jack Zapp finished sixth (56.57).Â

Toni Sabev finished first in the 100 breast (56.05), and Jack Gibson finishedJack Gibson finished in fourth place (59.14).Â

The 200 medley relay team of Currie, Toni Sabev, Simeon Sabev, and Namakonov finished in second place with a time of 1:32.67. The 400 free relay team of Polino, Sabev, Taylor, and Vasquez finished first place with a time of 3:05.73.Â

Kevin Siegfried took first place in the 1-meter dive with a score of 273.00, while Philip Townsend placed second with a score of 237.23. Siegfried also won the 3-meter dive (273.00), with Townsend finishing in second (237.23).
Delaware will return to competition after the New Year against Drexel on Jan. 7, 2023 in Philadelphia, Penn.Â
