Men’s Tennis Preview: Villanova & VCU

» The Delaware men's tennis returns to action this weekend with a pair of matches this weekend. The Blue Hens will host Villanova in a dual match at Delcastle Tennis Center in Wilmington on Friday starting at 12 p.m. before heading back out on the road on Sunday for an 11 a.m. contest at VCU.

» The Blue & Gold is coming off a narrow defeat at St. John's, dropping a tough 4-3 decision in Queens last Thursday. UD won the doubles point with victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions, while Pascal Wagemaker and Alexandre Gluck both won their singles matches.

» Wagemaker and James Wilkinson were named the CAA Men's Tennis Doubles Team of the Week for their performance against the Red Storm. They moved to 2-0 as a duo by knocking off the nation's 56th-ranked doubles team, Axel Vila Antuna and Ignacio Garcia of St. John's, 7-6 (4).

» Villanova opened its spring season on February 4 with a narrow 4-3 victory over Jefferson. The Wildcats dropped the doubles point, but won four singles matches for the comeback victory.

» VCU is 2-3 on the spring season and will play at Duke on Friday evening. The Rams have victories over Temple and Virginia Tech, while falling to Columbia and ranked opponents in then-No. 7 Georgia and then-No. 11 Kentucky.
