Women’s Tennis Preview: Rutgers & LIU

» The Delaware women's tennis team looks to continue its hot start to the spring season as it plays of pair of matches this weekend. The Blue Hens will travel to Rutgers for a 1 p.m. match on Friday before returning home on Sunday for a 12 p.m. contest against Long Island University at Elkton Indoor Tennis in Elkton, Md.

» The Blue & Gold have won its first three dual matches of the spring season with convincing victories over George Washington (5-2), Villanova (6-1) and Navy (7-0). Junior Isabella Montana and freshman Samantha Svendsen have led UD in its five overall dual matches as each have gone 5-1 in doubles play and have teamed up to go 3-1 in doubles play. Eliza Askarova and Julieta Honrubia are 2-0 at the No. 1 doubles position.

» Rutgers is 4-2 this season after splitting a pair of road matches last weekend, falling in a tight contest at UMass 4-3 before sweeping UConn 7-0. Freshman Jackeline Lopez is tied for the team lead with five wins across the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. In doubles, Tess Fisher and Michae Kim are a perfect 4-0 at the No. 1 slot.

» LIU is currently 3-2 on the spring and has won its past two matches, defeating Hofstra and Fordham. The Sharks will play at Sacred Heart on Friday before Sunday's match against the Blue Hens. Elinor Storkaas leads the team in dual matches, currently owning a 3-0 record from the No. 5 position.
