Montana Named CAA Women’s Tennis Player of the Week

NEWARK, Del. – University of Delaware women's tennis player Isabella Montana has been named the CAA Women's Tennis Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Wednesday. The award recognizes Montana's performances in Delaware's wins over Big Ten-foe Rutgers and LIU last weekend.
Montana put together a combined 4-0 record in singles and doubles as Delaware defeated the Scarlet Knights 6-1 and LIU 7-0 to improve to 6-1 on the season. Playing at No. 5 singles, the junior clinched the match against Rutgers with a 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 victory over Minchae Kim. On Sunday, she rolled past LIU's Bianca Compuesto, 6-0, 6-4, to push her winning streak to five. Montana and partner Samantha Svendsen also went 2-0 at No. 2 doubles, improving to 5-1 as a duo this season, and clinched the doubles point in both matches.
The UD women's squad, which is on a five-match winning streak, will head back out on the road this weekend, traveling to Richmond, Virginia for a 1 p.m. match at VCU.
