NEWARK, Del. - The Delaware men's swimming and diving team closed out the regular season at home, setting a poll record, a freshman record and several personal records in Rawstrom Natatorium.
"We had a great racing day today," said head coach Pablo Marmolejo. "It was a very good prep for our CAA team and a great meet for our kids who finished their season today. We were short of 3 school records today with still 12 days to go until the Championships. Definitely, a good spot to be in at this point. Looking forward to the next few days."
Setting personal bests on both boards, Philip Townsend placed first in 3-meter (292.80) and second in 1-meter (264.83).
The 200 Medley Relay Team of Gavin Currie, Tonislav Sabev, Simeon Sabev and Miguel Vasquez set a new pool record with a time of 1:29.72.
Toni Sabev set a freshman record with a time of 53.78 in the 100 Breast. He also set a personal record of 20.78 in the 50 Free. His brother, Simeon, set a personal best in the 100 Free with a time of 45.89.
Three other Hens set personal bests in two events. Jack Gibson swam personal bests in the 100 Breast (57.55) and 200 Breast (2:03.17) where he also earned a first-place finish. Sam Grossi recorded his best times in the 100 Free (47.75) and 100 Fly (52.52), while Ethan Holcroft posted his best times in the 200 Breast (2:04.62) and 100 Fly (54.10).
In the 100 Fly, Evan Ciecko (52.97) and Evan Frick (52.51) each set personal bests. In the 200 Free, personal bests were set by Jacob Bishop (1:45.92) and Ryan Polino (1:41.96).
