Men’s Lacrosse Defeats Marist, 18-9

NEWARK, Del. – Delaware (5-2) men's lacrosse hosted Marist (1-5) in a Friday Night Lights matchup that saw the Blue Hens pick up their fourth win at home in Delaware Stadium.
Mike Robinson had the magic tough tonight leading all players with five goals.
For the first time this season, the Blue Hens trailed at home after the first quarter. Clay Miller scored the first goal of the game to give Delaware a 1-0 lead at the 13:48 mark. The Red Foxes tied it up less than a minute later before both teams traded goals leading to a 3-2 advantage for the visitors after a score at the 2:57 mark for Marist.
Delaware outscored Marist five goals to one in the second half to take a 7-4 lead into the break. JP Ward kicked off the scoring spree followed by Tye Kurtz, Robinson, Kurtz, and Jason Kolar.
The Blue Hens began the third quarter with three straight goals before Marist slid one past the goalkeeper with 8:43 to go in the quarter.
After leading 11-6 through three quarters, the Blue Hens continued to apply the pressure resulting in seven more goals to earn the home win.
Eight different players scored a goal tonight led by Robinson. The attacker also tallied two ground balls and two caused turnovers. Ward led all players in points with seven (3 goals, 4 assists). Kurtz added five points (4 goals, 1 assist) and three ground balls.
On defense, Paul Reidy collected five saves to earn his third win of the season. Logan Premtaj led the way with eight ground balls while Kevin McCormick registered four ground balls.
Delaware held the edge in shots firing off a season-high 58.
Delaware will stay in Newark to host Johns Hopkins on Sunday, March 20 at 7 p.m. The game will be televised on the Lacrosse Sports Network.
