3/24/2022 11:00:00 AM | Women's Basketball
ATLANTA – Already a back-to-back Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Player of the Year and AP All-American Honorable mention, University of Delaware women's basketball guard/forward Jasmine Dickey was one of 10 student-athletes selected as regional finalists by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association for 2022 WBCA Division I Coaches All-America.
The selection committee will narrow the 52 finalists from the five regions down to a 10-member Coaches All-America team. The 2022 WBCA NCAA Division I Coaches' All-America team will be announced Thursday, March 31.
Dickey, a Baltimore, Md. native, concluded the 2021-22 season averaging the best numbers of her four-year career. She has led the nation in points per game for seven-straight weeks (Nov. 29-Jan. 10) and is currently tied for second in the NCAA with 25.3 points per game. Dickey also averaged 10.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.9 steals per contest while shooting 40.2 percent (284-of-707) from the field and 80.9 percent (190-of-235) from the free throw line. She closed out her stellar career making her first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance against Maryland (Mar. 18) putting together a 31-point and 10 rebound performance.
Dickey has scored in double figures 30 of her 31 appearances, including posting one 50-plus, one 40-plus and six 30-plus point game (three consecutive) performances. Tallying a career-best 19 double-doubles on the season, Dickey produced one of the most impressive double-doubles in college basketball this season, setting career-highs with 52 points and 18 rebounds on Feb. 4.
Dickey is the second player in Delaware program history to collect WBCA regional finalist All-America recognition, joining former Blue Hen Elena Delle Donne. She also became the first player since Delle Donne in 2012 and 2013 to earn back-to-back CAA Player of the Year honors. Dickey concluded her career in the Blue & Gold uniform totaling 1,981 points, 1,038 rebounds, 213 steals, 192 assists, 82 steals and 48 double-doubles.
WBCA member head coaches may nominate players from their own teams for Coaches' All-America. They then vote for the top eight players in their respective regions from among those players who are nominated. The selection committee, which is composed of head coaches from each region who are elected by their peers, may select up to 12 additional at-large finalists from the remaining pool of nominees.
