Big Second Inning Lifts JMU Past Delaware, 13-4

Chase DeLauter gave the Dukes the early lead by crushing a two-run homer in the top of the first, before JMU added nine runs in the second.
Nick Zona opened the rally with an RBI single, before Trevon Dabney followed with a run-scoring double. Following a bases loaded walk to Carson Bell, Fenwick Trimble, Travis Reifsnyder and Mason Dunaway each added RBI singles. Trimble then scored on a wild pitch, before Jensen Lapoint drove home the final run of the frame with an RBI groundout.
Dabney delivered a run-scoring double in the fourth to increase JMU's advantage to 12-0.
The Blue Hens got on the board in the bottom of the sixth when Bryce Greenly doubled home Jordan Hutchins before Dominic Ragazzo crossed the plate on a Joseph Carpenter sacrifice fly.
Kyle Novak drove home a run with a double in the top of the ninth, while Gabe Dermott cracked a two-run homer for the Blue Hens in the bottom half to close the scoring.
UD starter Joey Silan took the loss after allowing 10 runs in 1.1 innings of work. The Blue Hens received a solid effort out of the bullpen from Austin Elliott, who struck out three batters in three hitless frames on the mound.
Ragazzo, Dermott and Joey Loynd each finished with two hits at the plate for Delaware, which will look to salvage the final game of the series on Sunday at 1 p.m.
