Etxezarreta Earns Medalist Honors, Blue Hens Win Team Title at Kingsmill Intercollegiate

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Oihana Etxezarreta and the Delaware women's golf team each successfully defended their titles this week at the Kingsmill Intercollegiate.
Etxezarreta earned medalist honors at the tournament for the second consecutive year by firing a one under par 72-70-73=215 on the par 72, 5,974-yard River Course at Kingsmill Resort. She posted a five-shot victory over Emma Lu of William & Mary, who placed second at four over par.
The Blue Hens also claimed the team title for the second year in a row, finishing first out of 14 squads with a 911 total. The host Tribe placed second at 920, while Longwood was third at 933. The victory is Delaware's 10th team victory in program history.
In addition to Etxezarreta, Alisa Khokhlova, Anna Kittelson and Lexi Dart each recorded top 10 finishes as well. Khokhlova placed seventh at the invitational with an 11 over par 76-75-76=227, while Kittelson was eighth at 15 over par 76-82-73=231. Dart, who carded a 17 over par 81-79-73=233, finished in a tie for ninth place.
Lene Sperling tied for 15th place with an 18 over par 84-76-74=234, while Liz Coffren tied for 19th place with a 19 over par 80-74-81=235.
Christina Carroll fired a 22 over par 75-82-81=238 to tie for 30th place, while Lilia Henkel recorded a 30 over par 79-86-81=246 to finish in a tie for 52nd place.
Delaware returns to action on Apr. 3-4 when the Blue Hens compete in the Brickyard Collegiate in Mason, Ga.
